The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) today announces the return of its annual Spring Green Festival at Weir River Farm in Hingham on Saturday, April 23. “After a long hiatus due to COVID, we are excited to bring back this community tradition,” said Anne Smith-White, South Shore Portfolio Director. “This year is special: the festival will take place the day before Earth Day, so we’re planning lots of earth-friendly fun: themed crafts, workshops and demonstrations on organic farming and composting, and a vendor fair showcasing sustainable food and gift items. We’ve also worked with our food and beer trucks to provide compostable plates, cups, and cutlery. What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to spend the day outside at the farm!”

Visitors may meet the farm animals, climb aboard a tractor, and make an Earth Day craft.

Mom on the Go Food Truck, Thyme Traveling Food Truck, and Cruisin’ Cabby Shack serve lunch and snacks, and the Hornstra ice cream truck offers delicious local ice cream. Stellwagen Beer Company, Vitamin Sea Brewing, and Barrel House Z supply craft brews.

Live music is a big part of the festival atmosphere. Local favorite, Peter Mundt, entertains from 10:30AM-12:15PM, the Lied To’s play a mixture of country, roots, and folk from 12:30 – 2:30PM, and the Erin Harpe Country Blues Duo swings from 2:45 – 4:45PM.

At the top of the hill, the Weir River Farm Market showcases Trustees Grown meat, delicious local cheeses, jams, baked goods, and produce, as well as fun locally sourced gift items. In celebration of   spring renewal and Earth Day, eco-friendly vendors and local eco-partners are on hand to offer sustainable and eco-friendly products and share their good work preserving our beautiful planet.

For more than 125 years, we have worked to preserve and protect dynamic natural and cultural sites – from beaches and community gardens to farms, historic homesteads, designed landscapes, and hiking trails – for public use and enjoyment. Today we are working to engage a larger constituency of Massachusetts residents, members, visitors, and public and private partners in our work to help protect our beloved and fragile natural, ecological, cultural, and coastal sites for current and future generations.
