While a homeowner living in the Chief Justice Cushing Highway/Green Street area was burning brush today according to town regulations, the fire got out of control.

Attempts to extinguish the flames with a garden hose were unsuccessful because it was frozen due to the cold weather.

"The fire spread across the train tracks, so our crews had the [Greenbush commuter] train stop at Nantasket Junction for a few minutes," Hingham Fire Chief Steve Murphy told the Hingham Anchor. The fire, which involved about an acre of land, was contained, and there was no further damage and no injuries.

Yesterday's Baker Hill incident involved a small mulch fire under a back deck. "It didn't spread to the house, and there was no other damage and no injuries," Murphy said.
