March 28, 2022 By Carol Britton Meyer

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the town-owned South Shore Country Club, and the community is invited to attend the April 9 Birthday Bash in the Hingham Room.

The event, hosted by the Friends of South Shore Country Club -- will take place from 6 to 10 p.m., featuring heavy hors d'oeuvres, birthday cake, a DJ, cash bar, raffles, and poster-size photos of the SSCC as it looked in the past.

The Birthday Bash kicks off a year-long celebration and related activities, including a golf tournament.

Tickets are $50 each and may be purchased online at https://www.friendsofsscc.org/, where information about upcoming events may also be found.

"We have sold more than 100 tickets already and hope to sell more in the coming weeks," Carol Anne Fallon, one of the event organizers, told the Hingham Anchor.

Margaret White, who is also helping with the planning, said she wanted to be involved "because the SSCC was such a gift while my family was growing up and now to my husband and I as Club members. We have been so fortunate that our kids were able to take swimming lessons, use the pool, play tennis, have bowling parties, and enjoy Kite Day, sledding, junior golf, and other activities there.  SSCC has been the gift that keeps on giving. I’m hoping new families will enjoy the same opportunities while they raise their children in Hingham as we did."

South Shore Country Club, owned by the Town of Hingham since 1988, contains approximately 160 acres of open space. The property features an original Wayne Stiles, 18-hole golf course, a practice area, bowling alley, indoor golf simulators, a restaurant, and banquet facilities.
