Mary R. (Sestito) Schiavo, a longtime resident of Hingham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 12, 2026. She was 96 years old.
Mary was born in Italy and came to Hingham, where she lived on Canterbury Street. She was a fabulous cook and loved spending time in her garden. The foundation of her life was her family and her faith. Mary was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul’s Parish. She was devoted to her family, and in return, they cherished her. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Mary was the daughter of the late Domenic Sestito and the late Mary (Gratta) Sestito. She was the beloved wife of 69 years to the late Anthony T. Schiavo Sr. She was the loving and devoted mother of Anthony T. Schiavo Jr. and John D. Schiavo, both of Hingham, and the late Thomas J. Schiavo.
Mary is survived by her two grandchildren, Johna Schiavo and John Schiavo Jr. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home in Hingham.
