Karo caps off historic week in Hingham Athletics
Before the puck dropped, the Harborwomen honored their 9 Senior players and manager and their parents with a pregame ceremony. These girls have seen the program come a long way during their 4 years and should be proud of all the team's progress and accomplishments.
Sophomore Kathryn Karo buries the puck top shelf late in the 2nd period giving her 100 career points (goals and assists). She has accomplished this in just under 2 seasons. At the time of publishing this story, the powers that be are confirming if she is the fastest to 100 points in school history. We'll update once confirmed. Congratulations Kathryn, we look forward to the next 100 points.
Hingham took on Westwood in their final regular season game this year. Senior Bridget Skeffington chases down a loose puck early in the game.
Senior Goalie Taylor Moynihan makes a great pad save in the 1st period to keep the score tied at 0.
Senior Captain Julia Foley fights through 2 Westwood players early in the 2nd period trying to get the Harborwomen on the board down 1-0.
Senior Captain Katherine McNally makes a great defensive play as she lifts the stick of a Westwood player at the red line stealing the puck.
Senior Goalie Lexie Marchand took over in the 2nd period making some great saves, including this glove save late in the period.
Junior Ava Yotts cut off passing lanes of the Westwood player. Hingham's defense held strong as the 2nd period winded down.
The Harborwomen took the lead by scoring 2 goals in the last :19 seconds of the 2nd period. First, Karo's goal at 14:41, then Junior Captain Coco Hernberg scored just :10 seconds later.
Westwood scored 2 quick goal of their own half way through the 3rd period to take a 3-2 lead. Freshman Abbey Kennedy makes one last push to tie it up, but unfortunately the Harborwomen fall short. Hingham will be hosting a post season tournament at Pilgrim this week with games on 2/18 @ 6:00pm vs Westford Academy and 2/20 @6:00pm vs Arlington.
