John Francis Keohan passed away peacefully on October 27, 2026, after a brief illness.
Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, on June 5, 1942, to Edward and Josephine Keohan, John was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Boston College, and Georgetown University School of Dentistry.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marilyn, and his siblings, Jean O’Malley, Mary Lou Bicknell, Rev. Edward Keohan, and Richard Keohan.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa Manis (Gary) and Cristin Kisiday (John); his son, Kevin (Sara Noyes); his brother, Peter Keohan (Mary); and his sister-in-law, Alice Keohan. He was beloved Grampy to Garret, Caroline, Emily, Courtney, Annabel, and Ellie, and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Georgetown, John established his dental practice in Cambridge, where he worked for more than 40 years. Marilyn and John settled in Hingham in 1973 to raise their family.
John was very active in Hingham youth sports, coaching Hingham Gals basketball, John Barker basketball, and baseball. He was also deeply involved in the Hingham Sports Partnership and Hingham Boosters Clubs.
A longtime Boston College football season-ticket holder, John enjoyed many seasons of games and tailgates at The Heights. He was a member of the Hingham Yacht Club and loved taking his children and grandchildren out on the boat for tubing, swimming, and fishing.
He also enjoyed traveling, including memorable family trips to Ireland, Lake Placid, and Disney World. At Disney World, he famously invented games to keep the crew entertained while waiting in line, turning even long waits for rides into cherished family memories.
Family was the most important thing in John’s life. His happiest times were spent together at family gatherings, clambakes, tailgates, family trips, and holidays. He loved having all of his children and their families together. Those gatherings always included funny stories, plenty of laughter, a Keohan pour, and, eventually, a deck of cards.
He treasured time spent cheering on the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics with his family, passing along to all three of his children his unwavering belief that Ted Williams was the greatest hitter of all time.
