10/19/19: Steps to Healing and Change: A Domestic Violence Awareness Exhibit

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, DOVE (DOmestic Violence Ended) is partnering with the Hingham Public Library on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM to help get the community involved in taking a stance against intimate partner violence. DOVE will be hosting a walk through gallery of survivor stories and informational displays outlining the harsh reality and impact of domestic violence in our communities. Attendees will not only have the chance to learn about the experiences of survivors and victims, but will also be able to leave a message of hope to survivors as part of a beautiful community display. A DOVE advocate will be present to answer any questions and give a brief overview of their services. Light refreshments will be provided.

“At DOVE (DOmestic Violence Ended), we believe that all people have the right to live without fear of abuse. Since our founding in 1978, DOVE has expanded from a volunteer-run crisis hotline to a multi-service organization providing comprehensive direct services and support for victims of dating and domestic violence. DOVE works specifically with adults, teens, and children who have been abused, emotionally and financially, as well as physically and sexually.  Our services include crisis intervention, danger assessment and safety planning, supportive counseling, emergency shelter, legal advocacy and representation, and community outreach, education, and training. We strive to educate individuals, families and the community at-large to help change the societal conditions that allow domestic violence to persist.”
