We are thrilled to bring back Athlete of the Week again this year and want to thank our partner College Hype for their continued support of the Hingham Anchor and local journalism.

To kick of the 23/24 season, we have sophomore Chase Beighley.  Chase was outstanding in Hingham’s 20-16 loss at Braintree Friday night.  He had 125 all purpose yards with 5 receptions, 6 rushes, and a 39 yard TD late in the game.

“Chase has had a very good pre-season and I think that proved itself versus Braintree,” head coach T.J. Byrne says of Chase. “”I’ve found the greatest compliment you can give a player is to say he’s a football player and Chase is one of those.  He blocks, he hustles.  He always seems to put himself in the right spots, which is a result of the work he has put in thus far.”

Senior captain Gunnar Corey credits Chase’s effort and performance on Hingham’s opportunity to win the game in closing minutes.

“Chase really stepped up this game,” Corey explains. “We didn’t really have a good start and went down pretty early on.  But Chase lead our comeback.  Obviously we didn’t get the outcome we wanted but Chase sure as hell made it possible.  The kid is an athlete, no question. He’s fast, strong, and really came to play a few nights ago.  He truly earned his spot and we’re excited to see what he does this season.”

Congrats Chase on a great first week of the season.

  1. I had the pleasure of coaching Chase in youth football for three years. You can’t find a better young man and i am very impressed on how he built himself up in the weight room over the Summer. It will be great fun to watch him!
