The Hingham Harborwomen is the last team standing for the winter sports season, partly due to the play of Callie Crean last week. Her performance earning her Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype honors this week. The sophomore forward scored the game winning goal with under a minute to play in the quarterfinals vs Belmont on Wednesday night and opened the scoring and setting the one in the Harborwomen’s semi-finals win vs HPNA on Saturday. She has 18G and 14A on the year and has made huge plays at big moments throughout the season.
“Callie is a consistent, hard working, skilled forward,” says head coach Courtney Turner. “She shows up every day and gives 110%. She has a lot of grit and makes clutch plays because of her persistent determination and practice ethics.”
After Saturday’s big win, senior captain Addy Garrity spoke with reporters about how important Callie has been to the team this season.
“Callie’s just a very gritty teammate,” explained Garrity. “You know, she’s always there for you. She’s there for the rebound. That’s kind of her job. She she’s able to take the hits and she’s able to be out front and just stay focused. She’s able to keep her stick down, nobody’s gonna lift it – she’s strong. She’s a reliable teammate and she’s there for you. She was there for us last game. She’s been there for us this entire season and she’s really stepped up this year even as an underclassman. She’s been very awesome.”
Callie and the rest of the Harborwomen will have one more chance to show their grit and awesomeness on Sunday, March 16th at 11am at the TD Garden. Congrats and good luck!
