For the first time this year, the Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype has come from the same team in back-to-back weeks. Some weeks it’s really difficult choosing someone and some weeks we know who it will be after three days. This week was the later. Sophomore Caroline Doherty helped her team to three victories last week and she did so in spectacular fashion. In Monday’s game vs Winchester, Caroline scored all three goals in the 3-2 win. Wednesday afternoon, she recorded another hat trick in their 7-2 victory vs Marshfield. In Saturday’s game vs Hanover, not only did she get her third three-goal game of the week, they were all short-handed goals. In a six day span, she had 9 goals and 2 assists propelling her team from 1-game under .500 to 2-games over .500.
“Caroline is an offensive powerhouse for our team and is an exciting player to watch,” head coach Courtney Turner tells the Anchor. “She has a great shot and a knack for the net. Over the last month Caroline has developed into a real leader on this team as just a sophomore. I look forward to watching her skills grow and develop throughout the rest of the season!”
While senior captain Erin Packard concurs her individual play has special to watch, her performance has elevated her teammates’ results as well. In the past four games, the team has been averaging a little over five goals a game.
“Caroline has really turned it up the past couple of games and has made such an impact for everyone,” says Packard. “She brings such positive and energetic attitude to the game, which makes everyone want to work harder. She puts in 110% and is one our most reliable players who’s we can always count on. The she’s put in off the ice has shown to have great success.”
Doherty, Packard and the rest of the Harborwomen will face their cross town rivals Notre Dame Academy on Monday afternoon at 2pm at Pilgrim Arena for the Annual Hingham Cup Game.
Congrats Caroline and good luck!
