WHAT IS HSP?
In 1995, Hingham Sports Partnership was created by a handful of Hingham parents who wanted to enhance the athletic experience for all students. The initial goal was to supplement existing funding for the high school booster clubs. The board was particularly focused on women’s sports and supporting programs that would give more students an opportunity to participate in sports. Over time, the mission of HSP grew to support both high school level and youth athletic programs in the community. Currently in its 25th year, HSP is an independent non-profit 501(c) and one of the largest organizations of its kind on the south shore.
The annual HSP Golf Tournament has always been one of the key fundraisers, which in recent years was renamed the Tom Hoffman Golf Tournament, after a former HSP President. The current President of HSP is Fred Hussey who besides his impeccable golf game is best known for his enthusiastic rendition of “God Bless America” at the outset of the tournament and his snazzy dance moves at the after party.
To inspire, educate and advocate for the positive values and benefits achieved through broad-based community supported athletic programs.
HSP offers leadership and financial assistance to youth and school sports programs, and promotes community awareness and support of athletic events.
Grants, Sponsorships, Scholarships:
HSP led a community-wide effort working with booster groups and youth sport organizations to raise over $1 million in new turf field and lights at HHS. Numerous grants supporting high school and youth sports are awarded each year. Additionally, HSP also provides sponsorships to high school booster groups and helps offset filming/video expenses. HSP also provides annual scholarships to HHS student athletes. For more info, please see: https://www.hinghamsports.com/page/show/1452781-hsp-grant-summary
