July 7, 2026 – Story and photos by Joshua Ross
1872 ran, jogged, or walked in one of the hottest Fourth of July Road Race in recent memory. They came from as far away as Hawaii and represented 28 states and 3 countries. Despite the heat, there were lots of smiles and cheers as people finished the 4.47 mile course. Every year the race brings out the best runners across the South Shore (and around the world) to start the off the day of fun, bbq’s, and celebrations. Congrats to all winners, participants, and spectators who were a part of this great event. A special shout out to the Hingham Rec department and all their staff and volunteers to made yesterday possible.
