Following a busy summer of programs and performances on its campuses in Hingham and Duxbury, South Shore Conservatory (SSC) is actively enrolling students for fall 2022. The Conservatory offers a wide range of vocal and instrumental group classes and private lessons, ensemble programs, and creative arts therapies, welcoming students of all ages and all abilities. New private lesson students receive their first lesson free. Private lessons are offered on all instruments and for all voice types, across a wide array of genres. Private lesson students have unique opportunities to participate in workshops, recitals, and competitions. Additionally, SSC Youth Orchestra is offered free of charge to all private instrumental students.

Music Together®, for children from birth to four with a caretaker, offers an introduction to song, dance and rhythm. The joyful Music Together environment not only provides the gift of music, but also creates connections that can last a lifetime.  Music Sprouts, for ages three to five with a caregiver, further explores children's musicality.

Piano FUNdamentals for ages five to seven introduces basic music concepts and skills at the piano. For an unforgettable small ensemble experience, middle and high school students may join Rock Band or Percussion Ensemble.

SSC Youth Orchestra (SSCYO), the Conservatory’s three-tiered youth orchestra program provides opportunities for young musicians to perform symphonic music in a structured and supportive full orchestra. Students are strongly encouraged to submit an online video audition to help with placement by September 1. If technology is a concern, an in-person audition may be scheduled during the first two weeks of September.

SSC’s Dance Department offers a full range of dance and movement classes for children ages three and up, as well as adults. The faculty individualizes each student’s experience. Dance programs offered this fall include Creative Movement for ages three and four, Primary Ballet for ages five and six, Ballet levels one through five, Contemporary/Choreography, Lyrical, Hip Hop, PBT and Conditioning, Strength and Flexibility, and Contemporary Dance.

SSC’s new Teen/Adult Ballet is for anyone and every-body. Whether a beginner, somewhat experienced, or looking to resurrect an interest, students feel at ease in this supportive, creative environment. The class begins at the barre, progresses through center practice, turns, allegro, and finishes across the floor. South Shore Conservatory’s Creative Arts Therapies department offers Moving and Grooving for ages three to five with their caregivers, SSC Community Voices and SSC Community Voices, Too! choruses for young adult and adult singers of all abilities, SSC Memory Café for individuals living with memory loss and their care partners, and Percussion Commotion for adults and young adults living with ASD or DD.

For adult musicians, SSC offers both private lessons and adult chamber ensembles.
