Kathleen “Kathy” (Tessitore) McCarter Obituary

KATHLEEN "KATHY" TESSITORE MCCARTER

December 28, 2020

McCarter, Kathleen Tessitore, “Kathy”, of Hingham, died peacefully, on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham. She was 73.

Born in Boston on March 21, 1947, she was raised in Dedham and was the daughter of the late Francis and Eleanor (Sbardella) Tessitore. Kathy attended local schools and graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1965. After high school, Kathy continued her education at Boston College, where she earned her undergraduate and master’s degree in Counseling. Kathy worked as a mental health counselor for many years and enjoyed the relationships she built throughout the years.

Kathy was a selfless, devoted, intelligent and loving person. Beautiful inside and out, a consummate wife, mother, homemaker and hostess, she was an exceptional cook, avid gardener, spirited reader and most of all a loving wife and life partner of her beloved husband Barry and devoted mother to her daughter Jenna.

Kathy loved to laugh and had a knack for making people feel happy and welcome. She was very artistic and loved putting her skills to work creating a beautiful environment, both inside and out, for the home that she loved. She loved creating beautiful gardens and habitats for the birds. She particularly loved decorating her home for the Christmas season, her favorite time of the year.

In her spare time Kathy enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, golfing, and skiing. She was a member of the Hingham Garden Club and the Cohasset Golf Club for over thirty years.

Kathy will always be with her family in the memories of foods and floras’ and the home she created, in her pride of their being, in the celebrations of life, the Christmas extravaganzas; and notably in the silence and quiet of life. Her family was central to her being and she always set an exceptional example while caring for those she loved. Her life lessons and examples are part of her legacy that continue through her family. She will be dearly missed by all the lives she touched.

Kathy was the beloved wife of Barry J. McCarter. The two married on March 17, 1985 in St. Paul's Church in Hingham. Together they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. She was the loving and devoted mother of Jenna P. McCarter of Hingham and is also survived by many loving cousins, extended family and friends.

  1. I am shaken to the core to hear of Kathy’s passing…she was a beautiful, loving spirit and a dear friend of over 30 years. In May she had signed on to re-start her real estate career with me at Compass and we were both so much looking forward to that. She will be deeply missed…Rest in Peace dear Kathy and to Barry and Jenna…my most sincere condolences.
