HMLP to Host Electrify Hingham Heat Pump Forum

March 11, 2025 By The Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant

The Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant (HMLP) is excited to announce an Electrify Hingham Heat Pump Forum, a free and informative event for residents exploring energy-efficient heating and cooling solutions. Residents can register in advance for the forum, which will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the House of Prayer, 916 Main Street, Hingham, MA.

As Hingham works toward Net Zero emissions by 2040, residents are exploring cost-effective ways to heat and cool their homes. Cold climate heat pumps are an extremely efficient 2-in-1 system that can make homes much more comfortable. The forum will give homeowners, renters, and contractors valuable insights into how heat pumps work, their potential benefits, and the available financial incentives to make installation more affordable. Whether you are considering a heat pump now or want to learn more in the future, this forum is an excellent opportunity to ask questions, hear from experts, and explore your options.

What to Expect at the Heat Pump Forum:

  • Expert presentations on heat pump technology and performance in cold climates
  • Guidance on purchasing, installing, and maintaining heat pumps
  • Information on available rebates and incentives
  • Resources for energy efficiency, weatherization, and cost savings
  • Support for residents struggling with energy costs and bill assistance
  • On-site signups for no-cost home energy assessments and heat pump consultations.
  • Q&A with leading organizations, including Abode Energy & Energy New England (ENE).

Attendees will also enjoy a free lunch provided by HMLP, giveaways, and opportunities to enter raffles for prizes such as smart thermostats, power strips, and other energy-saving tools. “This forum is a great opportunity for Hingham residents to get their heat pump questions answered, make a plan for their home, and learn about incentives that make electrification more affordable,” said Brianna Bennett, HMLP’s Sustainability Coordinator. “We encourage everyone to attend and take advantage of available resources.”
