The Hingham Girls 7/8 A team capped off a dominant season on Friday night, winning the Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse 7/8 Select D1 Championship with a decisive 18-5 win over Wilmington/Woburn. Taking to the field at Harvard, where the same group of girls won the 5/6 D1 championship in 2024, the Hingham A team again brought their A game.

Head Coach Ali Winslow commented that “this season was all about growth for this team. From day one, these athletes embraced learning—whether it was new offensive sets or understanding how to manage key game situations like man up, man down, and controlling the flow on both ends of the field. What stood out most was the leadership of our 8th graders, who did an incredible job bringing the 7th graders into the team structure and setting the tone for how we compete and support one another.”

She continued, adding that “this group was focused, resilient, and ready for anything. I was consistently impressed by how they handled challenges—whether it was tough weather, late night games, or the grind of a long season. Their commitment to each other and their willingness to grow made this a truly special team to coach.”

Hingham came out to a 8-0 lead and the sheet marked goals by 7 different scorers, with the draw unit tallying 20 draw controls. A relentless defense barely allowed their opponent to successfully clear the ball, backed by the confident goalkeeping that they’ve had all year.

The undefeated season (10-0) kicked with a 15-4 win at Old Rochester and the girls didn’t look back. The season featured marquee wins against rivals Cohasset, Duxbury and Milton. In the Select playoffs, they notched a 16-3 win against Burlington, then beat Ashland/Westborough 22-6 in the semifinals.

Over the course of the season, Hingham netted 151 goals and allowed just 45. They trailed only once all year, 2-1 to Duxbury, before topping them 17-4.

Adding to Hingham’s proud lacrosse history and traditions, the championship was thanks in part to the solid foundation that the Hingham Girls Youth Lacrosse program built for the team, and the support of many dedicated coaches and parents. This support was apparent in the bleachers where two fan buses full of Hingham family and friends packed the stands. 7th and 8th graders showed up in full force with signs, flags and costumes, and the future of the Red Army looks strong.

As one parent remarked, “this season showed these girls what being on a team should feel like, and what can happen if you combine hard work, talent and just all-around good vibes.”

Team members included 8th graders Grace Daley, Quinn Hallisey, Sara Maroney, Sofia Nappi, Katie O’Donnell, Beth Samoska, Madeline Towle, Jane Tryder, Elsie Weymouth, and Emmy Zuschin, and 7th graders Caroline Alexander, Annie Isenstadt, Meg Jesson, Caroline O’Donnell, Elle O’Brien, Whitney Purtell, Lauren Reydel, Ella Shinney, Bronwyn Timmons, Claire Walsh, and Julia Wood. The team was coached by Head Coach Ali Winslow, with Assistant Coaches Mike Nappi and Lars Samoska.
