Hingham Community Center offers lineup of fun-filled holiday events

The Hingham Community Center is looking forward to hosting several holiday events for the community.

Christmas in the Square kicks off Friday night, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m.  Starting that evening, HCC and the Hingham Police Department are hosting a clothing and book drive for Cradles to Crayons.The most hoped-for items on the wish list include boys' shirts and pants, sweaters, sweatshirts, hats, and gloves in sizes youth large/adult small and books for boys and girls ages 8 to 12. Stop by and say hello to the HPD that night!  A Cradles to Crayons collection box will be set up in the HCC lobby for donations through Dec. 20.

New this year -- the Winter Market, featuring local vendors, artisans, and non-profits -- including Maddie's Promise. Main Street Art Studio, Art by Beth McDaid, Seabird Crafts, Katie Bennett jewelry and Art, and more! The Winter Market will run from Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. through Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Enjoy listening to and and singing along with the fabulous Men of Harmony from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday night. All are welcome to stop by and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and cookies sponsored by Stan Blackmur, Realtor, and publisher and owner of The South Shore Magazine.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, don't miss out on HCC's much-anticipated Breakfast with Santa family tradition. There will be two seatings --  8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to noon.  The cost is $20 per person, free for children 2 and under. Enjoy a breakfast buffet of scrambled eggs by Greenside Grille, Atlantic Bagels, yogurt and granola, delicious  Hornstra Farms milk, coffee, and juice. Arts and crafts activities will  include a handprint mitten ornament, reindeer food, and a letter to Santa as well as a digital picture with the jolly fellow. The highlight of the morning will be a holiday sing-a-long led by Santa himself.This event is sponsored by South Shore Bank and Stan Blackmur.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. HCC will host  Cupcakes & Coffee with a Cop in collaboration with Launch 2 and the Hingham Police Department. Please join us for a wonderful afternoon of Sadie Mae's cupcakes, coffee, and conversation with Police Chief Glenn Olsson. All ages are welcome!
