HCC GUILD Consignment Store: Shopping that Supports Local Charities

IMG_8306

The GUILD Consignment Center has been steadily evolving since its inception in 1956, and remains the sole family-centered non-profit resale shop in Hingham.  Located in the lower level of the Hingham Congregational Church, it is staffed solely by volunteers who work to provide quality clothing and household items to residents of Hingham and surrounding communities while they offer financial support a myriad of local charities.

Inventory is diverse and dynamic, with new donations and consignments arriving daily.

Clothing is available for men, women, and children, along with shoes, jewelry and other accessories. Look for athletic wear, sporting goods, and children’s toys, as well as seasonal displays for entertaining, activity, or décor.  Unique and practical household items are abundant along with functional small appliances and a variety of linens.

In recent years, the Center has become known as the only retail shop in town that carries 100% repurposed merchandise. Realizing that children grow, families move or remodel,  couples downsize, and holidays revolve throughout the calendar, a wide range of inventory becomes available to meet these changing needs.  Students heading off to college can outfit a dorm room with lamps and curtain rods that have become excess to empty-nesters.   As towns implement environmental measures (the plastic bag ban?), this shop is a place for personal and domestic re-use, re-cycling, and re-invention.

The Consignment Center has regular business hours on Tuesdays (10am-7pm), Wednesdays (10am-1pm), Thursdays (10am-6pm) and Saturdays (10am-1pm).

Annual storewide clearance sales are held in June.   A Half-Price Salebegins on Saturday, June 8 (hours extended, 10am-3pm for sale) and continues through Tuesday and Wednesday, June 11 & 12 to be followed with further reductions during Dollar Dayson Thursday and Saturday, June 13 & 15. All merchandise will be discounted.
