After decades of redefining vocal jazz, New York Voices is bringing its farewell tour to the South Shore on Sunday, November 15, at 3 p.m. at the Scituate Center for the Performing Arts.

Presented as part of South Shore Conservatory’s 2026/2027 Premier Concert Series, the performance offers audiences a chance to experience the celebrated ensemble’s signature harmonies, inventive arrangements, and genre-spanning repertoire live on stage as the group prepares to take its final bow.

Since forming in 1987, New York Voices has earned international acclaim as one of the premier vocal jazz ensembles in the world. The GRAMMY Award-winning quartet has spent nearly four decades pushing the boundaries of vocal jazz, blending the improvisational spirit of jazz with influences from Brazilian music, R&B, pop, and beyond.

Their distinguished career includes 11 albums, performances on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, and collaborations with jazz greats, including the Count Basie Orchestra and Paquito D’Rivera.

Equally influential as performers and educators, New York Voices has helped shape the next generation of vocal jazz artists through workshops, masterclasses, and vocal jazz camps. As the ensemble prepares to conclude its remarkable run at the end of 2026, this performance offers audiences a chance to celebrate a group whose artistry and innovation have left a lasting mark on the history of vocal jazz.

Opening the afternoon, South Shore Conservatory’s Jazz Combo will set the stage for the celebrated ensemble, showcasing the talent of local musicians and highlighting SSC’s commitment to music education and performance opportunities for students.

Sharing the bill with a GRAMMY-winning group offers a meaningful opportunity for young musicians to perform for a live audience and be part of an afternoon celebrating the artistry and enduring influence of vocal jazz.

“New York Voices represents the very best of vocal jazz, combining extraordinary musicianship with an unmistakable sound that has captivated audiences for decades,” said Steve Bass, SSC Artistic Director. “To bring an ensemble of this caliber to the South Shore during their farewell tour is incredibly special. And to have local students opening for these artists makes the experience even more meaningful. This is exactly the kind of connection between world-class performance and arts education that South Shore Conservatory strives to create.”
