Paul Wahlberg is the Founder and Executive Chef of Alma Nove and Wahlburgers. He is also a reality television star of the hit show "Wahlburgers" on A&E.  Paul is known locally not only for his delicious cuisine but also for taking care of his employees.  Many of his employees have stayed with him since the very beginning and often risen the ranks within the restaurant thanks to his mentoring. Paul is also well-known locally for his humble nature and generous heart - he gives very generously of his time to a myriad of local causes.   Today, marks the 10-year anniversary of Alma Nove, a restaurant named after his beloved mother - Alma.  Ten years is a huge milestone in the restaurant industry and we certainly hope Alma Nove is here to stay in Hingham for a very long time.

Congratulations, Chef Paul and the entire Alma Nove staff. We can't wait to sit on your patio and cheers to you in-person soon.  In the meantime, we know what we're ordering for takeout!

Hingham, meet Chef Paul Wahlberg.

When did you know you wanted to be a Chef?

When I was 17 and someone told me hey, you’re pretty good at this you should be a chef.

When did you open Alma Nove in Hingham?

June 4, 2010 (10 years ago!)

Throughout the past 10 years at Alma Nove, what has been your proudest moment?

Everytime a customer walks out the door happy. The moment someone comes back for something we made for them and says “I came back just for this dish."

The restaurant industry is notoriously difficult, what would you say your “secret recipe” is for success?

Focusing on the next meal, living in the present and what you’re doing in that moment. Every moment we have to be preparing for the next customer.

Looking ahead to the next 10 years, what do you look forward to the most?

The next special occasion we get to be a part of for all our guests, whether it be an anniversary, birthday, graduation etc.

If there was a blooper reel – what was the funniest moment of filming your show?

Telling Gronk that I didn't take him in my fantasy football league. He started walking towards me and I was intimidated by the interaction. He said "what do you mean you didn’t take me?"

What’s your favorite menu item at Alma Nove and Wahlburgers?

The Our Burger at Wahlburgers and family meal at Alma Nove.

What do you love most about the town of Hingham?

The beauty of the town and the people, especially the OFD’s. [OFD = Originally From Dorchester].

Favorite local spot (aside from your own!)?

There are so many great spots in town, we are so fortunate that there are so many in this town, Tosca, Muang Thai, Nonas. I have my favorite things at so many different places, chicken wings at Crow Point, ice cream at Nona’s, hot dogs for breakfast at Atlantic Bagel.

What’s your most-requested home cooked meal from your family?

Roast pork, roasted potatoes and apple mustard sauce.

If you had a different career, what would it be?

Anything with people and making people happy.

What is one thing on your bucket list?

Shoot par on the front nine at South Shore Country Club.

What's one thing people may not know about you?

My favorite movie of all time is Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

  1. I was felt hurt upon knowing Ms Alma had past as I was a big fan of the Boys and the show!

She was a stronger woman than me raising 9 children! She had to b loving and strong for so many.

I know she is getting a well deserved rest!
