With Hingham Now in the COVID-19 ‘Red’ Zone, Town Officials Urge Vigilance Among Community Members

October 15, 2020

This message was provided by the Selectmen's office on behalf of town officials.

As of yesterday, the MA Department of Public Health (DPH) was reporting 371 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hingham.  The state is now listing Hingham in the “red” category with an average daily case rate over the last 14 days of 9.9 per 100,000 population.

While this is our first week in the “red” category, the Town takes this change very seriously.  We continue to stress the importance of following DPH and CDC guidelines, especially as they relate to social distancing and face coverings.  We are asking all residents, businesses, and visitors to please be vigilant in following state and federal COVID-19 recommendations.  A prolonged period in the “red” category could negatively impact our local economy and our ability to enjoy many of the sectors and activities that have cautiously reopened over the past few months.

Thank you for working with us to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
