Hingham will light up the sky in a new way this Independence Day with its first-ever drone show on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Hosted at the Hingham Bathing Beach, this family-friendly evening is presented by the Town’s Harbor Development Committee in partnership with the Hingham Historical Society, Hingham Lions Club, and with generous underwriting support from the Mike Reilly Classic.
Festivities begin at 6PM with food trucks near the Iron Horse statue, a beer garden behind the bandstand, and extended hours at the Harbor Beach House. At 7PM, crowd favorite Booty Vortex takes the stage at the harbor bandstand. After dark, 300 synchronized drones will launch into the night sky, creating animated, music-accompanied images celebrating Hingham and its role in the American Revolution. The best place to see the show is at the Bathing Beach between Town Pier and the grove. Sight lines beyond those areas will be limited. Boaters outside of the restricted area will see the images in reverse at a dimmer brightness.
This is one of the many celebrations to kick-off the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
The Town of Hingham joins a growing movement to replace fireworks with environmentally conscious drone shows, reducing air and noise pollution and protecting local wildlife like endangered Oyster Catcher nesting birds. The Hingham Lions Club, which presented July 4th fireworks for over 25 years, has worked closely with the organizers to reimagine this celebration.
