The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) today announces the return of its annual Weir River Farm Fall Festival on Saturday, October 7, from 10AM-5PM.

Come celebrate the fall harvest season with some old-fashioned fun at one the last working farms in Hingham. Spend time in the barnyard visiting with our animals and learning from our team of Farmer/Educators, climb aboard a tractor, choose a farm “tattoo,” and make a harvest-themed craft!

If all this activity leaves you hungry, grab your blanket and enjoy a picnic provided by Mom on the Go Food and Wanderlust Food Trucks Ribpublic BBQ, enjoy ice cream from Ellie’s Treats, and sip local beer from Barrel House Z, Break Rock Brewing, and Widowmaker Brewing.

A full day of live music begins at 10:15 with local favorite Peter Mundt. Cape Cod’s famous Crabgrass Bluegrass Band performs at 12:15 and The Lied To’s play at 2:45.

At the top of the hill visit local vendors and stop in the Weir River Farm Store to purchase cider donuts and apples, delicious local cheeses, jams, as well as fun locally-sourced gift items. The freezer is stocked with organic, pasture-raised Trustees meat, so bring a cooler!

A special addition this year is a participatory art installation designed by Aaron Asis and Illegal Art. Consisting of a series of sculpted paths to guide visitors through a meadow, the public will be invited to record personal messages onto a piece of botanical seed paper in response to the following prompt: Share a message of hope with the land to inspire a better future. Each message will then be buried into the earth by a wooden stake topped with a ribbon that waves in the wind in unison with those of other participants.
