Weekend Roundup: 11/16-11/17

We are pretending that there is not a winter storm brewing and planning out our weekend ahead.  From guitar shredding, musical watching, to family-fun runs and lots of holiday shopping, there is so much going on this weekend around town.  Here’s your weekend round-up (and, say a quick prayer there are no cancellations):

Friday, November 16th:

Guitar Hangout, 6:00-9:00 @ the Community Center

Chad from Commonwealth Music and his brother will be demonstrating and leading kids in various songs and as well as teaching kids how to play a song together. The hangout is designed for kids to meet other guitarists and learn how much fun it is to play together. This is an event for guitar players of ANY skill level, ages 10 and above. Feel free to come for part of the time or the full time! $10 gets you in and a few slices of Peel pizza. Remember to bring your guitar (or banjo/mandolin/ukulele) This is going to be a very relaxed evening of socializing and ensemble playing.

Hingham Drama Club Presents “Urinetown: The Musical,” 8:00 @ Hingham High School

The Hingham Drama Club will perform “Urinetown: The Musical” this weekend.  Showtimes are, Nov. 16th, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 17, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15, Seniors and Students $10, and are available at the door.

Saturday, November 17th:

South School Fun Run or Walk, 9:00- 11:00 @ South School

A three mile walk/run that will start and finish at South School.  Start time is 9:00 AM sharp rain or shine.  There will be music, food, water/coffee, a bake sale and raffle all to benefit South School.  It is $20 per student/$50 per family. Online registration through Thursday, 11/15 (http://www.lightboxreg.com/south-school-5k?mobile=1). Day of registrations will be $25 per runner.

Plymouth River School Race/Walk, 9:00-11:00 @ Plymouth River School

The Plymouth River School PTO is hosting it’s annual Race/Walk.  The race will begin at 9:00 am sharp beginning and ending at PRS. You can register online through 11/15 (https://racewire.com/register.php?id=9998)or on the day of the race beginning at 8:00 am. Strollers are allowed but no bikes, scooters, rollerblades.

18thAnnual St. John’s Hingham Holiday Boutique, 9:00-4:00 @ St. John’s Church

Guests will enjoy high-end one stop shopping for all of your holiday needs! Santa will be in attendance for photos from 10AM-1PM and there will be a supervised kids craft center from 1PM-4PM so your little ones can have some fun while you shop! The show features a selection of juried artisans and vendors, offering many distinctive gifts as well as fine art, designer clothing for men, women and children and unique jewelry and accessories. There will also be holiday trimmings, live bulbs and wreaths. The Gourmet Café features both children’s and adult lunches, fresh coffee and signature baked goods. It’s a great family outing and the perfect way to get into the spirit of the holiday season! Hingham Holiday Fair, 9:00-4:00 @ Hingham High School

The 10th Annual Hingham Holiday Fair offers a fun and festive variety of exhibitors showcasing holiday and everyday items for all ages.  Don’t miss the gourmet treats – scrumptious croissants, desserts, breads, jams, cooking oils and vinegars, and spices for all menus!  The doors open for shoppers at 9:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m. A $3.00 event fee will be collected at the door. Take a chance at the raffle items generously donated by our vendors!

Over 90 vendors will be featured at this year’s Holiday Fair, representing both local and New England-based businesses.  A new feature this year – pre-ordering your fresh wreath through DeVaughn’s Ridge! Pick up your selection at the Holiday Fair or have DeVaughn’s Ridge deliver it to your doorstep! Another show favorite, Fleurish, returns with vintage inspired ornaments, arrangements and hostess gifts. Mama Steph, 10:30AM @ Hingham Public Library

MAMASTEPH entertains! Stephanie Chase is an accomplished musician, singer, songwriter, entertainer and crafts person. As MAMASTEPH she is a popular performer who has a vast and loyal audience throughout the South Shore. She has four cd’s to her credit, all of which are available for checkout at the Library. Please join HPL for a magical musical morning, suitable for young children and their grownups and families! This event is free and open to all children with a caregiver.
