Weather report: Get ready for a major dose of summer weather

Hingham Bathing Beach, Memorial Day Weekend 2020

June 28, 2021 by Meteorologist Michael Page

HEAT WAVE

The week will begin with a heat wave in Hingham, which is three or more days of 90+ high temperatures.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will each be hazy, hot, and humid, with high temperatures in the low to middle 90s.

A gusty breeze on Monday will at least help to stir the air, but this is the type of heat and humidity that can be dangerous for those working outside, or for those without air conditioning.

Without air conditioning, the body won't have time to cool off at night, since overnight temperatures this week will be in the 70s.

While Monday will be a dry day, there may be a pop up summer shower or storm on Tuesday and Wednesday. That would be during the afternoon, and the risk is certainly not high enough to cancel any plans.

MORE STORMS LATE WEEK

A cold front will slowly slide towards Hingham late week, bringing more clouds Thursday and Friday. We'll also have a much higher risk of periodic rain and storms on those days. It will still be muggy, but temperatures won't be as hot.

High temperatures will be back down in the 80s on Thursday, and likely the 70s on Friday.

UNSETTLED 4TH

That front will be rather slow to clear out, and we'll still have to deal with it heading into the holiday weekend.

Right now it looks like the weekend will bring at least some showers, with temperatures in the 70s.
