Town of Hingham to Host COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Clinic

December 19, 2021 Submitted by The Town of Hingham

The Town of Hingham is pleased to announce it will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccination booster clinic next week for eligible residents.

WHEN:
Tuesday, Dec. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.

WHERE:
South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St., Hingham

WHO:
The clinic will be made available to residents and employees of the Town of Hingham.

It is being offered by the Town of Hingham, in cooperation with the Police and Fire Departments and Health Department.

WHAT:
This clinic will be providing 100 doses of the Moderna booster to residents age 18 and older. Those who received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine more than six months ago are able to receive a booster.

Those wishing to receive the vaccine at this clinic must pre-register by clicking here. No walk-ins will be accepted at the clinic.

Residents are reminded to bring their vaccination cards with them when receiving their vaccine. Additional information will be provided to residents when arriving at the site.

"Getting your vaccine, and getting a booster when eligible, is perhaps the best way to stop the spread of the virus, and we are pleased to be able to offer this free clinic for our residents," Executive Health Officer Susan Sarni said. "Here in Hingham, we are continuing to see a sharp rise in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations for COVID-19 are increasing across the state, so it is critical that we all do our part and receive a booster if able to do so."

According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, you do not need to get the same vaccine brand for your booster as your original COVID-19 vaccination. Those looking for their first or second dose of the vaccine, those looking for a vaccine for younger children, or those specifically looking for the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 booster should visit the state’s Vaxfinder website here.

Anyone with questions is asked to contact the Hingham Health Department at 781-741-1466 or the Hingham Fire Department at 781-741-1480. The South Shore Baptist Church is the host only for the clinic, and the church should not be contacted for more information.

This clinic will be available to the first 100 people who register, however the Town of Hingham will also be co-hosting a regional clinic with the Town of Cohasset on Jan. 4.

"We hope residents take advantage of this clinic and receive their booster as we continue to combat COVID-19 in our community and throughout the region," Hingham Fire Chief Steve Murphy said. "The Town of Hingham will continue to take advantage of every resource available to stop the spread of the virus, and offer additional clinics in the future for those who are unable to attend the one on Dec. 28."
