The state primary is Tuesday, Sept. 1. In-person voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:
* Precincts 1-4 – Hingham High School, 17 Union Street
* Precincts 5-7 – Hingham Middle School, 1103 Main Street
* Precinct 7A – Willard Square, Linden Ponds, 201 Linden Ponds Way
Sept. 1 is also the first day of school in Hingham. Since school will be in session at the high school, the voting location for precincts 1-4, access will be at the back of the school. Voters should use the Pleasant Street entrance driveway. Parking will be available by the gym entrance, Town Clerk Carol Falvey told the Hingham Anchor.
Falvey is also reminding voters to return their Vote By Mail ballots as soon as possible. “They cannot be dropped off at the polling locations and must be received at Town Hall by 8 p.m. on Sept. 1,” she said.
The Town Clerk’s Office mailed out approximately 3,500 Vote By Mail ballots and has received back only about one-half of those so far, according to Falvey. While they may be mailed to the Town Clerk’s Office, she is recommending that they be dropped off in the Town Clerk’s Office or in the drop box outside Town Hall to avoid any potential mail delivery delays — “to ensure we receive them in time.”
In addition, absentee in-person voting for those who will not be in Hingham on Sept. 1 will be available on Monday, Aug 31, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Town Clerk’s Office, which will close that day at 12:30 p.m. for Election Day set-up.
