After a prolific end to the 2021-2022 NFL season, there is no better time to reflect on the Hingham Youth Football program’s recent success. The Hingham Raiders came into the 2021 Fall season with an impressive resume, winning 28 championships across multiple divisions since 1999, but were looking to continue their successful campaign. The competition was difficult, as there were 29 organizations representing 42 towns across the Old County Youth Football League, with six divisions divided based upon school enrollment. Hingham fielded 3 teams in the largest division, Division 1, including the 4th grade Mites team, 6th grade Pee Wees, and 8th grade Midgets. There were also 3 Hingham teams in Division 6 (for towns with 6 teams) to allow for more playing opportunities, which included the following teams: 2nd and 3rd grade Mites, 5th grade Pee Wees, and 7th grade Midgets.

In the Fall 2021 season, the program added three championships to its already astonishing resume, and became the only team to win three championships in the season. The Raiders were unstoppable, dominating every team they faced in the season. The 8th Midgets defeated Bridgewater 35-6 and the 6th grade Pee Wees defeated Marshfield 24-0, culminating two perfect seasons with well fought victories. In Division 6, despite ending the regular season with a losing record, the 2nd and 3rd grade Mites won a nail biter against Marshfield in the championship, winning 8-6. Due to Covid-19 restrictions in 2020, the league held a special 2021 Spring season for the D1 Midgets, and Hingham did not disappoint. Once again, the Raiders prevailed, winning their 4th title in 2021. As the Raiders prepare for the 2022 season, they will look to continue the program’s commanding dynasty.
