Thank you to our Brave Volunteers!

March 30, 2023 By Friends of the South Shore Country Club

The Friends of the South Shore Country Club held its annual Volunteer Clean-Up Day on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Despite chilly and breezy conditions, more than two dozen people participated, including permit holders, SSCC grounds crew and staff, community members, boys from the Hingham High School golf team, and girls from a local Girl Scout troop.

Across the golf course, fairway divots were repaired, bunkers cleaned, and sticks and branches gathered in preparation for the Spring season opening golf day in April. This work not only jump-starts the clean-up efforts from the Winter, but allows SSCC Superintendent Jake Silva and his grounds crew to focus more of their attention on advanced course enhancement projects.

We want to thank SSCC staff Kevin Whalen, Chris Riley, Jake Silva, Cate Cannon, the grounds crew and all participants for a fun and successful day! A special thanks to the Greenside Grille for rewarding volunteers with clam chowder after the event. And volunteer golfers were given a free golf cart rental for a day by the Club and some SSCC hats!
