Following an extensive interview process, Hingham Public Schools proudly announces Tara Boening, M.Ed., as South Elementary School’s next principal, effective July 1st, 2024. Boening brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to her new role, having served as the Principal of Liberty Elementary School in Braintree Public Schools for the past eight years.
The selection process, overseen by representatives from Hingham Public Schools administration, Hingham School Committee, South Elementary School parents, and staff, involved rigorous interviews and thorough reference checks. Boening emerged as the top choice from a pool of highly qualified candidates after impressing stakeholders during multiple rounds of interviews.
Boening’s dedication to education is evident in her extensive background. She began her career as a Grade 6 classroom teacher in New York City before transitioning to roles in Massachusetts, where she served as both a teacher and an administrator in various school districts. Her academic achievements include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from Molloy College, and additional postgraduate certificates of study from Northeastern University and Harvard University.
Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Boening shared, “I am grateful for the opportunity to be the next leader of South Elementary School. It was an absolute pleasure getting to meet different members of the South School community during the interview process, and I look forward to connecting with staff and families when I begin on July 1st.”
Superintendent Dr. Adams also conveyed excitement about Boening joining Hingham Public Schools, stating, “I am so grateful to the South School community for their warmth and generosity through this process. We are excited to welcome Tara to the South School village and our Hingham community.”
Mary Eastwood, the current principal of South Elementary School, will retire in June, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in education. Boening is poised to continue this tradition and lead South Elementary School into its next chapter of success.
