Essential Hand Held Watering Allowed
September 11, 2026 By The Town Of Hingham
The past week has put a strain on our tank levels. The Weir River Water System and the Hingham Fire Department remind residents that we remain in Level 2 restrictions and will continue through the month of September.
Water tank levels are headed to critical levels and we are seeing significant drops between the hours of 3 AM and 8 AM which indicate automatic lawn watering. The levels of Accord Pond and our wells continue to be affected by the drought conditions.
It is important to maintain adequate tank levels for both potable drinking water and fire protection for our communities.
All non-essential outdoor usage is prohibited (lawn irrigation; washing vehicles, exterior building surfaces, parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks; and, filling swimming pools).
Hand held watering for gardens, landscape plantings and other essential needs is allowed.
