The Scituate Animal Shelter invites friends, golfers and animal lovers to join a fun event for a great cause at its Putt For Pets charity golf tournament on September 28, at Hatherly Country Club in Scituate. The day features an 18-hole tournament with foursomes placed for a shotgun start followed by a scramble format. This fun format means that every player no matter their skill level has the chance to win valuable prizes and titles. Players can register in teams or as individuals who will be paired up in a foursome. The tournament registration is $250 per person and includes the round of golf, a cart, box lunch and awards dinner. Details and registration at https://scituateanimalshelter.org/events.
For those who do not golf, the day offers other fun activities, including a helicopter ball drop, a putting green contest, silent auction, cash bar, music and celebratory dinner. Event guests are welcome to take this rare opportunity to simply enjoy the beautiful seaside setting and clubhouse with its gracious wraparound porch. Tickets for non-golf dinner guests are $100 and also available online.
“Putt for Pets is a very popular event for the shelter,” says Ross Brightman, event co-chairperson, “Hatherly Country Club is truly a sweet spot that is normally off-limits to non-members. It’s a real privilege to play on this wonderful, classic links course with its sweeping ocean views. The whole event is just a lot of fun and we expect all slots will be filled.”
Brightman added that, “In addition to the tournament, there will also be some fun contests to test golfers’ skills or luck! And, returning this year is the spectacular helicopter ball drop. For every $20 ball purchased, supporters could have the chance to win up to $10,000. It’s an amazing site to see that helicopter hover over the course and let those balls go! We hope that everyone will come enjoy the day and support the Scituate Animal Shelter. ”
