June 25, 2020 by Carol Britton Meyer

With the release of the long-awaited Department of Elementary & Secondary Education Initial Fall School Reopening Guidance today, school administrators, teachers, and students can now start preparing for what will be a different kind of school year in 2020-2021.

"Here at Hingham Public Schools, we have been proactively planning for this guidance, and have already established a Recovery Response Advisory Committee and several working subcommittees  to do the work ahead," Supt. of Schools Paul Austin told the Hingham Anchor today.  "With more than 100 individuals representing the district, town leadership, public safety, public health, and parents, we are well positioned to hit the ground running."

Later today, the HPS administrative team will meet to unpack the guidance and discuss the appropriate next steps. Austin is also working on a community communication that will go out later this afternoon or early evening.  "While there will be much to consider and many questions to answer, I ask for patience as the district and the RRAC committees consider the information provided."

While there is a great deal to be accomplished, Austin said he's "excited about the work ahead and the possible safe return of 'in-person' education in Hingham."
