SAVE THE DATE: Taste of Hingham

Plans are underway for the annual Taste of Hingham celebration on Saturday, May 18, from 12 to 3 p.m. — a sure sign that Spring is just around the corner!

This event, sponsored by the Hingham Congregational Church, Eat Well, Inc., and the Hingham Downtown Association is a “feast for the senses” on Main Street in Hingham Square, organizers say.

Sample an abundance of chowders, champion steak tips, signature dishes, ice cream, sweets, and savories from 30 of Hingham’s finest restaurants, markets, and shops. Enjoy live music, free horse-drawn hayrides, and fun for all ages at this 16th annual street fair to benefit the Hingham Food Pantry and other South Shore charities.

The Taste of Hingham began in 2004 as part of a vision of celebrating and building awareness of all that Hingham has to offer while at the same time raising funds to benefit more than 15 South Shore non-profit organizations.

Thus far the Taste of Hingham has raised more than $250,000 for this purpose. The popular event attracts about 3,000 visitors a year — a fun time for all.

A favorite part of the festivities is casting votes for Hingham’s favorite chowder or soup; entree of the year; Hingham’s Appetizer; Sandwich/Burgers/Pizza; Vegetarian Delight; Baked Sweet Treats; and Hingham’s Favorite Desserts.
