Nantucket Kids has moved from the Derby Street Shops to 16 Whiting St. near Queen Anne’s Corner, and their new location comes with a lot of surprises — a brand-new, full-service toy store, Sandbox Toy Shop, and the launch of their new layette line, Nantucket Baby.

“We’ve always offered giftable items such as toys and books alongside our clothing line Nantucket Kids, but when the opportunity to expand to a larger location came along, we decided to turn the space into a one-stop shopping destination,” owner Andrea Romito told the Hingham Anchor.

Sandbox Toy Shop will open its doors alongside Nantucket Kids and Nantucket Baby on Saturday, March 18, offering high-quality unique toys and gifts that aren’t easily found elsewhere.  In the meantime, customers can pick up their online orders at the Whiting Street location.

“Our customers can expect the same quality products and friendly staff that we’ve provided to the South Shore for the past five years, as well as a wide range of toys and gifts, all with complimentary gift wrapping.” Romito said. “I’m beyond excited to introduce our customers to our new line of layette pieces as well as carefully curated toys and gifts.”

As the mother of three young children, their feedback is important to her. “They know what’s ‘in’ and offer invaluable feedback for what toy products will be offered at Sandbox Toy Shop,” she said.

Children and adults alike will revel in the wide variety of offerings — from STEM and learning toys to classic wooden toys. “We are covering a wide range of children’s interests — everything from building toys, cars and trucks, and arts and crafts to dinosaurs, dolls, cooking and baking, and outdoor toys, you name it,” Romito explained.

Offering a wide selection of unique toys contributes to the goal of “just getting kids off their screens. All of the toys we carry here have an educational element to them. There’s something for everyone,” she said.

Feedback on a having a new toy store in town has been overwhelmingly positive among her already-regular Nantucket Kids customers from Hingham and other South Shore communities. Romito looks forward to attracting new customers as well at the new location.
