Ruth Ann Kelly, 77, of Rockland, Massachusetts died suddenly at South Shore Hospital on February 19, 2023.
Ruth was born in Cleveland, OH in 1945 to the late Theodore and Elizabeth Ercius where she graduated from Shaw High School in 1963. She also attended Whittenberg University following graduation.
Ruth moved to Hingham, Massachusetts in the 60s where she lived until 2012 before moving to Rockland, Massachusetts with her late husband, Bruce Kelly. Ruth worked as an executive assistant at Talbots in Hingham for almost 25 years. She most recently worked part-time at Kindred in Hingham as a sales associate.
Ruth was very proud to have become a Justice of the Peace while living in Hingham. She officiated many weddings over the years and was most proud to marry same sex couples when it became legal. She was an avid creator who loved sewing, scrapbooking, card making, baking, decorating and just about anything else she could think up. She enjoyed RVing with her late husband and made several cross-country road trips and spent many weekends camping with her family.
Ruth’s mission in life was to celebrate every moment with those who were close to her. She was a source of support, love and encouragement to those she left behind. Ruth is survived by her children: Eric Swingle and wife Laura of Piqua, OH, William Bennett and wife Shelley of Monterey, CA, Elizabeth Cashman and husband Jeffrey of Hingham, MA, Theodore Bennett of Rockland, MA and Joshua Kelly of Dunstable, MA, grandchildren: Kyle and wife Annie, Brian and wife Madison, Derek, Brady, Bennett, Brooke, Roxy, Ruby, Mason and Asa and great grandson Bennett, brother in-law Jack Kelly and wife Jane of Hanover, MA and their children Michael and Sean, sister-in-law Brenda Stevens and husband Bill of Toronto, Canada and their children Thomas, Jake and Taylor, long-time friends Pamela and Richard Marshall of Duxbury, MA and many more friends and extended family who will miss her dearly.
All are welcome to a Celebration of Life Service to be held on March 19th at 11:00 am at South Shore Country Club, 274 South Street, Hingham, MA.
