August 9, 2022 Submitted by the Town of Hingham

The Town of Hingham Engineering Division will be repaving and/or reconstructing the entire length or sections of the following roads beginning August 11, 2022 and the work will continue until complete.

  • Intersection of North Street & Thaxter Street to RR Crossing
  • Elm Street
  • Emerald Street
  • Thayer Street
  • Pleasant Street
  • Stoddard Road
  • Meadow View Road

All scheduling dates are dependent on weather conditions and subject to change. Please be sure to check our Town’s website for any updates to this schedule.

You will experience travel delays during this time and may not have vehicular access to/from your property while the work is in progress. On-street parking will not be permitted from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the days contractors are working in your neighborhood. Vehicles which interfere with this project will be removed. Personal and contractor vehicles should be kept off the roadway. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We request that you be mindful that the asphalt exceeds 300° F when placed and can damage your vehicles' tires if you drive on it before it cools. Cooling to a safe temperature can take over an hour during the hot summer months, so please plan ahead. We will do our best to accommodate your access needs and maintain a safe route of travel throughout construction.

The paving process for these roads includes milling of a part or all of the roads. One course of pavement will be placed over the milled surface. The final step in our paving process will occur sometime next summer, with two coats of a 3/16” thick microsurface emulsion. Notice will be provided when that work is scheduled.

If you should have any questions, please call the Department of Public Works at 781 741-1430.
