It was a quintessential fall day in New England and the perfect day for Old Colony Montessori School (OCMS) to celebrate their 60th Birthday with music, refreshments, a cornhole tournament, birthday cake and more!

This September marks the 60th year of OCMS Staff welcoming new and returning students to their classrooms for a year full of learning and making memories.

The Birthday Party guests included current families and staff as well as alumni students, staff and friends. The inflatable obstacle course and dunk tank were a big hit. Many children displayed their artistic skills by painting colorful rocks and applying custom OCMS temporary tattoos. There was something for everyone!

Adults were able to relax in the beer garden and enjoy an ice cold beer provided by Untold Brewing. The big event of the day, with over 24 teams, was the Cornhole Tournament, run by Boston Baggo. Many young alumni participated with family and friends as teammates. Bragging rights for the Tournament Champions go to the Poiriers, an alumni family.

Music by Joe Armstrong set the festive mood with his guitar and upbeat song choices. Special musical guests included alumni Laird LaCoste and Ashley Buckeridge.

The crowd gathered around as Joe Armstrong led a resounding rendition of Happy Birthday and a delicious and beautiful birthday cake made by Whole Foods was enjoyed by all.

Mark your calendar for the Open House (10am-12pm) and Fall Festival(12-2pm) on October 14, 2023, and the OCMS 60th Gala on April 6th, 2024.

For the past 60 years, OCMS has been nurturing lifelong learners, serving children ages 18 months to 9 years old. Old Colony Montessori School is the oldest Montessori institution south of Boston and is one of the only AMI (Association Montessori International) certified Montessori schools in the area. OCMS students develop a natural love of learning that lasts a lifetime, and approach the world with self- confidence, intellectual curiosity, joy, and respect.
