Kathleen “Kathy” M. Ford, 62, of Hingham, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at South Shore Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Marshfield in 1963, Kathy was the beloved daughter of Robert Downey and Barbara (Cavallini) Downey.
Kathy graduated from Quincy College in 1998 and went on to build a meaningful career as a registered nurse. She was especially devoted to caring for individuals with disabilities, and through her compassion and kindness, she made a lasting impact on countless lives.
Kathy found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved spending time in Vermont and at the beach, where she could relax and listen to the soothing rhythm of the ocean. She was an incredible cook, known for preparing meals with love and bringing people together around her table. Her warmth, generosity, and ability to make others feel at home will be remembered by all who knew her.
She was the devoted wife of Weston Ford for 32 years.
Kathy was the loving mother of Lawrence Gillette Jr. and his wife Kristin, James Ford II, and Weston Ford Jr., who were the center of her world. She was a proud and loving Nana to Lillian Gillette.
She was also the cherished sister of Robert Downey Jr. (and the late Trisha Downey), Michael Downey, and Kerry (Downey) Anspach (Doug Anspach). She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Kathy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
