OBITUARY: John W. Hall

John W. Hall, 86, of Hull, Massachusetts, passed away on April 20, 2026, at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1939, he was son to J. Whitney Hall and M. Jean Hall, and brother to Peter W. Hall (deceased) and Meredith (Hall) Allen.

John was proud to have served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves from 1963 until his honorable discharge in1968. His passionate interest in history led him to be a founding member of the Hingham Militia, in which he remained active until 2018 participating in reenactments of Revolutionary War events and annually marching in the Hingham Fourth of July Parade. The former president and owner of Safety Fumigant Pest Control Services, he was active in the Hingham/Hull Rotary club where he was often recognized for his many accomplishments and service to his community.

An avid boatsman and sailor, John loved to visit the harbor islands (Langley Island being his favorite), rides along Nantasket Beach to Hull Gut, and adored the beauty and history of this place he called home.

John is survived by his son Jonathan S. Hall of Plymouth, daughter Dana W. Hall of Marshfield, daughter-in-law Donna (Kennedy) Hall, and sister Meredith Allen of Londonderry, NH. He was also the beloved grandfather (Papa) to Matthew Hall, Tyler Hall, and Tim Hall, and great grandfather to Cortland, Calvin, Colin, and Vivienne.
