NVNA and Hospice recently received a $1 million gift from Cathy and Rick Roche.
The contribution is a significant boost to the nonprofit, which has entered the silent phase of a 5-year, $20 million fundraising campaign for hospice and palliative services. Now in their second year of the campaign, this brings the total to $9.5 million raised.
The Roche family’s relationship with NVNA and Hospice spans more than a decade. NVNA’s Pat Roche Hospice Home was established as the South Shore’s first hospice home in 2013. The donation will not only support the house, but hospice and palliative services across the 27 Soutth Shore communities served by the nonprofit.
The family’s continued involvement has been essential to NVNA’s long-term stability, as many nonprofit hospice and home healthcare providers struggle in the wake of rising costs while facing commercial payers and Medicare Advantage Plans that continue to undervalue home care and hospice.
“Our family believes that philanthropy should make an immediate impact. Our gift supports hospice care and most importantly the next family who seeks this care,” Cathy and Rick Roche said in a statement.
