Notre Dame Academy (NDA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with South Shore Ballet Theatre (SSBT), expanding opportunities in the arts for Cuvilly middle school students beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. The new collaboration reflects NDA’s ongoing development of programs that nurture the intellectual, artistic, physical, and personal development of students.
Working in collaboration with NDA’s Visual and Performing Arts program, SSBT will offer students the opportunity to explore ballet, jazz, modern dance, and dance history through classes designed to foster creativity, confidence, and artistic expression.
“At NDA, the arts are an essential part of a well-rounded education,” said Annemarie Lynch Kenneally ’80, P’13, ’15. “Through the arts, students gain confidence, discover their voice, and develop leadership skills. This partnership reflects our continued commitment to giving our girls with meaningful opportunities for growth both inside and outside the classroom.”
The partnership aligns with NDA’s emphasis on holistic and interdisciplinary learning. Dance offers natural connections to subjects such as science, music, math, theatre, and history, while also supporting student wellness through a focus on strength, flexibility, and Pilates-based training.
South Shore Ballet Theatre hosted an introductory workshop for NDA middle school students in June and is piloting foundational classes for 6th grade students in the upcoming school year.
Located in Hingham, South Shore Ballet Theatre is recognized for its high-quality artistic instruction and strong commitment to dancer health and development. Founder Marthavan McKeon established the school after teaching at the Boston Ballet School and performing with both the Atlanta Ballet and Joffrey Ballet. SSBT’s mission centers on cultivating an appreciation for dance within a safe, nurturing, and age-appropriate environment. The SSBT is now led by Morgan Brown Sanborn with Ms. McKeon remaining active as an instructor and consultant. Ms. Sanborn is an accomplished dancer with 17 years of professional experience. She holds a BFA in dance from Point Park University, is a certified Pilates and Progressing Ballet Technique instructor, and is a Fellowship Instructor with American Ballet Theatre’s National TrainingCurriculum. She continues to perform with City Ballet of Boston and throughout New England.
