Not So Spooky Haunted House at St. John’s

October 11, 2023 By Sarah Gillis

The Not-So-Spooky Haunted House opens this weekend at St. John the Evangelist. True to its name, this fun Halloween experience is perfect for kids of all ages. It is especially geared for those in early elementary and pre-school. The haunted house opens this Friday and runs Friday and Saturday evenings through October 21. Tickets are $6.25 per person, with a maximum of $25 per family.

Visitors are treated to a tour of Freddy the Friendly Ghost’s happy haunted home, including a potions classroom, ghost pet shop, and haunted Hingham harbor complete with its own pirate ship. After the haunted house, families enjoy games, crafts, and snacks before trick-or-treating on their way out.  Costumes are welcome but not required.

This event launched in 2016 and quickly became a highlight of the Halloween season for Hingham and beyond, drawing thousands of visitors from as far away as Boston and Plymouth.  Dan Fickes, who designed the haunted house, said his favorite thing about it is how it brings the community together. “We get 100 church volunteers across generations, and we hear all over town how much families look forward to this. It means a lot that we kicked off a new Hingham tradition.”
