Following Saturday’s town election, the select board reorganized this week, with William Ramsey elected as the next chair.
Julie Strehle, who was sworn in before Monday’s meeting, was welcomed as the newly-elected board member.
“We are very happy to welcome you to the board,” Ramsey said. “Your professional background, experience leading a variety of town boards and committees, and your strong commitment to our town will make you an outstanding board member.”
After being elected chair, Ramsey said it’s a privilege to serve on the board, “and I’m honored to lead it. I’m excited about the upcoming year. We have a lot of work to do, and I’m thrilled to start that work tonight.”
At the start of the meeting, Ramsey paid tribute to former select board member Bruce Rabuffo, who passed away recently. “He served honorably on the board for six years.”
After settling in Hingham with his wife, Susan, in 1995, Rabuffo was appointed as an alternate member of the zoning board of appeals. He also served as chair of the Hingham Development and Industrial Commission. He was elected twice to the select board, serving from 2008 to 2014.
He will be missed.
