Mary E. (Alexander) Ford

Mary E. (Alexander) Ford, devoted wife of the late James W. Ford, passed away at the age of 99 at home surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Perley and Mabel Alexander and sister of the late Lawrence and Donald Alexander. Survived by her loving children, Donna Ford-Parker of Braintree MA, Robert Ford and Catherine of Enfield CT, Joan De Maet and David of Texas City TX, Mary Kelly of Pembroke MA, Tricia Ford of Hingham MA, Weston Ford and Kathleen of Weymouth MA, Janis Ford of Hull MA, and Diane Stasik of Jackson NJ. She has 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Mary was born in Hingham, graduated from Hingham High School in 1942 and was a lifelong resident of World’s End. As an active member of the World’s End Association, she was instrumental in endeavoring to preserve World’s End as conservation land. Mary told stories about the farm (World’s End), once relaying her swim across the harbor. She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to sing. Her special way of caring went beyond her family to all who knew her. Her generous, unselfish spirit touched many lives. She will live forever in our memories and will be missed by all.

Visiting hours will be at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St, Hingham, MA on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Friday, January 5, 2024 at Saint Paul’s Church, 147 North St, Hingham, MA. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to Massachusetts Eye and Ear in support of Retinitis Pigmentosa Research.
