Kevin Ellis is excited to announce his candidacy for Planning Board.

“The Planning Board is instrumental in preserving the character of the town while promoting responsible growth. Serving on this board means understanding the concerns of citizens, both those who wish to develop property and those impacted by the development, and balancing those concerns with the long term interests of the town.  In my professional capacity as a private client attorney, my legal practice is built around finding practical solutions to people’s problems and concerns. I will bring that same understanding and consideration to my work on the Planning Board if I am elected."

Kevin has had the privilege of serving the town on the Hingham Development and Industrial Commission (the HDIC) for several years, and most recently as an appointee to the Fire Station Building Committee. Kevin has been active in Hingham Youth Soccer as a volunteer coach and with the local cub scout troop as a parent and Eagle Scout himself.

“My family and I are very fortunate to be a part of the Hingham community. The schools, the programming, the parks and open space, the history and character of the town – they make Hingham so appealing and special. None of that is by accident; it is built on the work of residents who care deeply for the town and its future.  I hope to continue in that tradition by serving on the Planning Board.”

Kevin graduated summa cum laude from Bucknell University, received his Masters of Arts in English from Middlebury College and J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.  Kevin is a former teacher and now an attorney at Hemenway & Barnes in Boston. Kevin’s legal practice focuses primarily on estate and charitable planning, business succession planning, trust administration and non-profit counsel. He also has extensive experience planning for vacation properties and other multi-generational assets. Kevin serves on the Board of Overseers at the South Shore Conservatory and is a member of the Trustees of Reservations Conservation Circle Steering Committee.

"While I was growing up, my parents volunteered extensively in various capacities in our town. They instilled a strong sense of civic duty in me. I firmly believe that one of the privileges of living in a town like Hingham is the opportunity to be involved and be a good steward for its growth."

Kevin and his wife, Sarah, are extraordinarily proud parents of Asher, Grayson and Eleanor, and, if their kids have their way, soon a puppy.
