As temperatures begin to drop, Keohane Funeral & Cremation and Dependable Cleaners are once again teaming up to help keep South Shore families warm this winter through their Annual Coat Drive, running October through the end of November.
Community members are invited to donate new or gently loved adult and children’s coats at participating Keohane Funeral & Cremation and Dependable Cleaners locations across the South Shore. As a thank-you, donors will receive a coupon for 25% off the cleaning of coats and jackets at Dependable Cleaners.
Now in its 14th year, the community drive has collected approximately 10,000 coats since 2012, with Dependable Cleaners serving as Keohane’s partner since the program began. Dependable Cleaners professionally cleans every donated coat before distribution, ensuring recipients receive a fresh, ready-to-wear garment.
“A warm coat can make a meaningful difference for a family facing a difficult winter, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see our community come together year after year to help,” said Keohane Funeral & Cremation Co-President John Keohane. “We hope South Shore residents will be inspired to take a look in their closets, find a coat they no longer need, and help us put it into the hands of someone who does.”
“Every coat donated represents a simple act of kindness that can have a real impact on someone’s winter,” said Christa Hagearty, CEO of Dependable Cleaners. “We’ve been proud to be part of this effort alongside Keohane for more than a decade, and every year we’re reminded of how generous our neighbors can be. We’re honored to do our part by making sure each donated coat is cleaned, cared for, and ready to bring warmth to someone in our community.”
This year, Interfaith Social Services will distribute the donations.
