Fall Color at Jacob’s Meadow

October 2, 2023 By The Hingham Land Conservation Trust

Enjoy local autumn color and join the Hingham Land Conservation Trust on our Fall Walk exploring the trails of Jacob’s Meadow on Saturday, October 14 at 10:00 AM. We will gather behind Wilder Memorial Hall, at 666 Main Street, Hingham. Parking at Wilder is extremely limited, so we ask that you park across the street at Second Parish Church, at 685 Main Street. We will have a police detail to get everyone safely across the street.

Carol Valentine of South Shore Quests will be giving us an exclusive early preview of the new Jacob’s Meadow Quest, so bring your best clue-solving skills. The new quest will be published in next year’s Quest Book, which is an annually updated collection of clues to solve along South Shore trails, including maps, and fun facts about the properties. They are available for sale at local libraries and Buttonwood Books. On our Fall Walk, we will explore the upper and lower meadows which are rich ecosystems for meadow-loving flora and fauna, and filled with native and pollinator-friendly plants. The walk will be approximately 1.5 miles with some moderate hills and exposed roots, and is expected to take about one hour. At the quest’s conclusion, those who would like to explore further may continue through the adjacent Hingham Conservation Commission property.

The Hingham Land Conservation Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to acquiring, preserving, and maintaining exceptional landscapes and natural areas in Hingham.  More about the mission and activities of the HLCT is available at www.hinghamlandtrust.org.
