HPS asst. superintendent search begins soon

The search for a new Hingham Public Schools  assistant superintendent will soon be underway.

Supt. of Schools Margaret Adams outlined the timeline for the School Committee this week. "We're looking to start in January and to finish up by the end of March," she said.

HPS  Science Director Kathryn (Katie) Roberts was named Interim Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for the 2022-2023 school following Asst. Supt. of Schools Jamie LaBillois'  resignation last June after accepting a position with the Brockton Public Schools as Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services.

The search process includes:

  • preparation of recruiting materials and profile development, Dec.  27-Jan. 20
  • advertising for the position, Jan. 23-Feb. 10
  • search committee formation; orientation and training, Feb. 13-March 3
  • scheduling of interviews, March 6-7
  • interviews, March 14-15
  • reference checks, March 16-17
  • identification of finalists, March 20
  • scheduling of finalists' interviews, March 20-22
  • finalists' interviews with Central Office, March 23-24
  • appointment recommendation to superintendent, March 28
  • appointment of new assistant superintendent, March 28-31 induction, July 2023

There will be opportunities for input from educators, students, and community stakeholders during the process.
