Hingham’s Climate Action Plan – A Special Briefing for You!

December 6, 2022 Submitted by John Borger, Hingham Net Zero

Hopefully you’ve taken a few minutes to read Carol Britton Meyer’s 10/19/2022 highly informative article, “Citizen Involvement Key to Climate Action Plan’s Success”, on the Green Living tab. Carol reports on the update that Brad Moyer, Chair of the Climate Action Planning Committee (CAPC) presented to the Hingham Select Board in October, whose members expressed their appreciation for the Committee’s excellent efforts.

CAPC has been hard at work further building out the plan and has now scheduled a convenient Zoom presentation to provide an updated briefing on its envisioned contents to all Hingham citizens. This public forum will take place on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:00PM. To attend, go to: https:/tinyurl.com/CAPCDecember and enter Meeting Code 882 9309 3002 and the Passcode 992912. Or use your Apple or Android camera to scan the QR code below.

If you would like to do a little preparation for this session, you can review the Committee’s summary presentation slides in pdf. format. Or you can read the whole plan in its current draft form. Both documents can be found here: https://www.hingham-ma.gov/917/Climate-Action-Planning-Committee.

At Town Meeting 2021, Hingham established the goal of attaining net zero emissions by 2040. The Climate Action Plan explains exactly what that means, details Hingham’s primary sources of emissions and furnishes the roadmap we’ll need to reach our objective. This forum will be an easy, convenient way to familiarize yourself with the essentials of the plan and will give you the final opportunity to provide your input to the Committee. Without the input, informed support and collective action of all Hingham’s citizens, the plan will not be effective. The sooner we can get up to speed on the goals and actions the plan outlines and take full ownership, the better positioned we will be to begin to contribute to its success. Please plan on attending – the Committee needs your participation! – John Borger, Hingham Net Zero.
